just got back from fly moto track. fly moto is a 250+ acre riding area with 3
levels of moto x and 3 levels of trails, from easy (pee wee) to extreme. took
the 175 dazon up there. actually, went there to help the owner, chris, do
some landscaping. he has a big hare scramble this weekend and the EPA
is on his back about the environment. so, we helped with some
landscaping(seeding and spreading hay). will be going back to help some
more next week.
anyway, the dazon did absolutely fantastic. this area is in the Clinch
Mountains. when we first arrived(lady bedo and i), the entrance, was down
a very long and very steep hill. going down wouldnt have been bad, coming
back up, now, i had my reservations. not about the buggy, but my old ford
ranger. said the hell with it, took the plunge. glad we did. seeing it was
tuesday, no one was there but chris and us. the parking area, all dirt, was
nice and flat. huge, about 3 acres of parking. outsite restrooms, believe it
or not, they were clean and did not stink. even lady bedo was impressed.
so after the landscapign duties on the big track, settled down to riding. the
big track is on the side of a mountain. didnt want to try it with the dazon.
partly because, allright, i was chicken.
but took it down the trails to the mini track, it was about a 5 acre track with
small table tops and hills. and very tight turns. had a friggen blast on that.
then went thru some mud holes, nothing real deep, up to the axles, of some
good gooey soppy mud(it rained this morning). by this time it was getting
alittle late. about an hour drive from the house. but went back to the
parking area and did some great powerslids and donuts. slinging muds
everywhere. tried taking it up the long uphill entrance, well, did it 3 times.
had to slow down once, kinda rough and the famous chinese bounce was
there. now, i've 49 yrs old and a bit overweight. i swear i thought my boobs
was going to give me a black eye with the bounce. remember, tell MBC
Powersports to get better shocks on this buggy. so, it pulled the hill just
great. even got a good powerslide up around the curve.  our digital camera
went out on us, but we took the old standby, 35mm. will get developed and
will post pics then. we plan on going back sunday for the hare scramble,
working the mid point check, and taking a 2 seater. we'll be riding more
around then. taking more pics. gotta get to the mid point area.
now, i talked with chris, he's was really interested in the buggys. he said, if
the interest is there, he would build a buggy track/trail system how ever we
wanted it. from an oval to a TT type track or a mixture of both and woods
trails. he's obtaining another 250 acres by summer. so, if any local folks,
within a hundred miles or farther, would like to see about setting up a racing
or riding thing at flymoto, please let chris know. he's a super nice guy that
lives for off road riding. and he built this whole place by himself. that's
commitment.
